ANIMATOR : APPRENTICE DEMO DISKS
ANIMATOR : APPRENTICE by Martin Hash is an animation programme
consisting of seven modules :-

                   *CHARACTER -- Define characters
                   *ACTION    -- Define movement
                    DIRECTOR  -- Define choreography
                    REHERSAL  -- Real-time audition
                    RECORD    -- Save to disk
                    DISPLAY   -- Replay
                   *SCULPT    -- Design and detail characters

Together, the modules comprise an "Object Editor", a "Renderer"
and a "Scene Editor".

ANIMATOR : APPRENTICE is a trimmed-down version which excludes
the above (*) Modules.

Each demo disk contains the DISPLAY module and at least one
vignette.
                                                       
Typically, animation is composed of many two to ten second
vignettes edited together.  A second of animation is usually
twelve to fifteen frames.  An average frame requires 10 K of
disk storage in packed mode.

Animation which is created by ANIMATOR : APPRENTICE can be
"shaded" or "flat", using the same choreography.  Characters use
"surface mapping" for fine detail, and a Genlock for
backgrounds.

To begin the demo, open the demo disk and double-click the "video
display" icon.  An Animation requester will appear listing the
vignettes available on the disk.  Move the slider gadget to
highlight the desired name and click the OK gadget.  The
vignette will take several moments to load then will begin
playing.  Pressing the left mouse button stop the motion and
subsequent clicks step the animation one frame at a time .

Clicking the right mouse button continues the motion.  Pressing
the <RETURN> key will toggle the frame number in the upper right
hand corner of the screen.  The function keys, <F1> through
<F10> adjust the playback speed:-  <F3> - 20 frames per second,
<F4> - 15 frames per second, <F5> - 12 frames per second, <F6> -
10 frames per second etc.  Some animations can run faster than
others.  Only the number of frames that can fit in memory can be
displayed.  Pressing the <SPACE> bar exits the programme.

The total ANIMATOR : APPRENTICE programme requires at least 1.5
megabytes of memory to operate and an external disk drive.
Frames are computed in five to twenty minutes (average ten
minutes).
