Starting a Chat
Chat allows two H/PCs to communicate via the IR port. This is great if you're stuck in a
boring meeting and you happen to be sitting next to your friend who also owns an H/PC. By
typing away you'll look like your studiously taking notes on the meeting at hand, which
can't help your chances for a raise.
Here's what you need to do to chat between two H/PCs:
- Point the IR ports on the two H/PCs at each other. The IR port is black and is made of
a different material than the rest of your H/PC. It's usually on the back or on the side.
- With one H/PC, select File | Listen for a Chat.
- With the other H/PC, select File | Join a Chat.
If everything is working correctly, the top text window on each H/PC will accept text indicating
the chat is in progress. When the connection is lost (like when one H/PC quits the chat), the top
text window will no longer accept input. The lower window holds the received text from the other H/PC.
