A completely sequential write, like an 10MB copy from ram: to the drive completes in less than 7 seconds - over 1.4MB/Sec. Very slow by A1200 IDE standards, but nevertheless not abysmal like these results. Perhaps the hammering of small accesses by diskspeed in the beginning of the test causes some sort of garbage collection issues for the SD card.
